Uyllious Tales

_______________________________________
“Some 200 hundred years later, the term of ‘The Departure’ first made an appearance and came to refer to this cataclysmic event in Uyllious’ history, signalling an end to what had been previously an ‘Age of Plenty’ in abundant resources, technological experimentation, and Viadel advancement. Though scholars through the ages have given conflicting theories and explanations, from sudden natural disasters to divine punishment, all can agree with this line found during the initial excavation of Lastgarde;
The world stirred and changed, and with this change, death swiftly followed”
Restoration of an Era, Page 43
________________________________________

The Kingdoms of Paradin have spent centuries rebuilding what was lost.

An era of magical and technological wonder was all but swept clean by “The Departure” – A world changing event that is still being discussed, theorised, and debated in order to uncover precisely what occurred.

What is known is that the years following immediately afterwards were plagued with flooding and earthquakes from the settling scarred land, and a rampant disease called “Tenebris” struck many living creatures with horrible black hardened sores and scabs which would always lead to the body losing all will to live.

However through it all it would be found that those who were blessed by the world, by Uidvis themselves some would say, would be the ones to bring civilisation, to bring safety, back to the terrified people of Paradin and beyond.

These wielders of power would come to be called Viadels and are loved, adored, feared, and exploited throughout Uyllious.

You are one such Viadel.

How you act and live your life may have the people of Paradin and beyond see Viadels in a new light.
But the world is stirring and changing once again, and with this change, death may swiftly follow.

________________________________________

Premise

You are a Viadel, one who has been ‘blessed’ by the planet Uyllious to manipulate the energy and elements found within and throughout the world. There are numerous types of Viadel, and even more so of various experience and ‘Stages’, so it is common for no two Viadel to be identical even if similar in type.

Many people, Viadel or not, find themselves drawn to particular goals in life, whether choosing to take up a local trade or travelling far and wide to other kingdoms and start a new life for themselves. Some have been known to ingratiate themselves with particular houses and people of worth, and others have gone on to better their knowledge of the world through study and exploration outside of what is known.

You’re a Viadel, and the choice is yours.

Current Era

It was said that before ‘The Departure’ most everyone was capable of powers and manipulation over Uyllious’ essence, similar to a Viadel, however technology in Paradin has evolved to create a society just entering an industrial era with use of specific chunks of minerals found to mimic, in certain ways, a Viadel ability.

Purifying and distribution of clean drinking water.
Generation and safe containment of heat and light.
Shaping and movement of solid rock and soil.
Propelled motion and manipulation of air to carry large constructs over vast distances.

The people of Paradin have needed to adapt to cope with the changed landscape, and the current lifestyle all know of today is a testament to that.

Even the once feared ‘Tenebris’ disease has become treatable thanks to the translucent ‘Miznonith’ substance, used primarily nowadays on Viadels who have begun to be affected by their overuse of abilities.

The Kingdoms of Paradin & The World of Uyllious

Much has been lost since 'The Departure' and so relearning about the world has taken quite some time, in most cases completely side-lined for more immediate attention such as rebuilding and survival during the first few decades afterwards.

Many know of Uyllious, the world they live on. They know of Nebrodrax, the continent which is home to Paradin and its Kingdoms, and of another continent known as Eacruth, said to be found across the vast Druwoth Sea though considered lost since ‘The Departure’.

Besides this however, much information detailing anything outside Paradin, and the continent it's situated on, has for the most part been lost and now steadily comes from any surviving records and first-hand accounts that are unearthed.

The frozen wasteland to the south and danger filled mountains to the north has meant any sort of exploration is confined to those with the means to do so personally, with the vast majority of people complacent with remaining in Paradin and its lands.

As such, the land of Paradin exists now as primarily four great kingdoms;

The Divine Primordials - Ordiors

There are many stories and tales of Uyllious’ beginnings, and numerous mention of divine beings called ‘The Ordiors’ and how three particular members of this group were instrumental in not only the creation of the world but of Viadels themselves.

It was said nothing would have begun if not for Uidvis, whose end saw its light spread to the farthest corners of existence and was the beginning for what would follow afterwards

The great shaper Edifex fashioned from this light all that would fill this spreading void, and through its creation and manipulation of the elements came the suns, moons, and Uyllious

Finally with the gentle warmth and touch of life Datio gave birth to living beings and remains by the side of all to take them when the end arrives

Species

It has been theorised that before ‘The Departure’ many of the intelligent species of Uyllious had free reign to travel and visit many corners of the world. Since then only a handful have been capable of retaining this cultural diversity, primarily by ingraining themselves throughout the Paradin populace already, and by those few who have managed to travel to these lands from the Northern and Southern parts of the continent.

Viadel Types

Viadel can come in many types. There are those who say Viadels are picked by the Ordiors personally, others say one is dependent on family and merely born that way. Whatever the case may be, Viadels are known to break down into the following;

  • The most common are referred to as Elementalists, Viadels who are capable of powers related to the more primal elements; Fire, Water, Earth and Wind

  • There are Viadels however, whose power somewhat melds and flows between two elements creating a whole unique ability entirely; Fire + Earth = Magma, Wind + Fire = Electricity, etc

  • And there are some Viadels with powers only now starting to become known, many lost over generations from ignorance and fear but slowly being rediscovered.

Viadel Stages

Viadels over the course of their life can reach certain stages of their ability, each one increasing their overall strength and affinity. There are Viadels who strive to reach these higher stages, though many either will never reach past what is capable of them or choose not to instead.

Stage 1: Soul Connection

Spoiler:

Stage 2: Body Modification

Spoiler:

Stage 3: Internal Transfer

Spoiler:

Stage 4: External Manipulation

Spoiler:

Overuse

The spread of Tenebris has all but vanished from society. Though the actual source has never really came to light, the discovery of Miznonith and its capacity to slow the spread has meant many people can go about their lives in peace, with fear from the occasional outcrop of Tenebris in the wilds and of course from Overuse, when Viadels push their bodies too long and too far with their abilities and in the end draw the disease to them.

Viadels of higher Stages seem to attract Tenebris more easily and voraciously than those of the lower, in those instances becoming almost deadly in short amounts of time. Miznonith consumption though helpful in prolonging any spread, is expensive, especially for advanced cases that may need constant administration.

Whether Viadel or not, those affected will find their bodies begin to weaken and wither from the inside while hardened obsidian-like patches dot the skin’s surface. In time without treatment these growths eventually cover and envelope the now husk of a dead body left behind.

Viadel Roleplay Explanation

Deciding on a Viadels power should come from an answer to the question of ‘how can the body form a natural and believable connection?’

Taking the examples of the more common ‘Elementalists’;

• Body heat would make a connection to Fire and increase enough to cause burning
• Blood being made up primarily of Water could form a connection to the element and facilitate healing
• Minerals such as Calcium can create a link to the Earth and therefore strengthen and protect the body more naturally
• Connecting to Air/Wind from the simple act of breathing could have a Viadel’s reflexes and reactions heightened for short and safe periods of time with the increase of oxygen.

Even the less common powers need to have some natural connection for the body. A Viadel with perhaps power over metal would come from their connection to the trace elements of iron, though within the world they may never know this and might more attribute it to Earth.

Basically a Viadel could have one of any number of powers if it can be logically explained and connected to the body. Remember that while the four stages allow a Viadel to grow stronger, a greater risk for Tenebris to strike them is more likely to happen.

Hi!! Before I make my character, I was just wondering if the races have any features that would be different to the humanoids we have in our world, aside from the already mentioned descriptors [eg. the four arms, rock portrusions]. Mainly like if any of them had very visible skin tone variations outside of what we'd consider normal [kind of like tieflings in DnD], or if the water-dwelling ones would have visible scales or dark eyes or any features like that?

This is mostly because I like to do character art beforehand [': so I have tooons of questions like this

Thanks for asking Lissira!! I'm really happy to be able to get all of these parts down and answer questions like that in order to make all of this better! Feel free to ask many more and I do hope this helps give you a better picture of the species and what might be possible!

Daoine

The most common species found throughout Paradin. Daoine are the most ‘Human’ in appearance and as such can be found in various skin tones, sizes, genders, as there exists in our own life. Daoime variety is very much the same as it is anywhere, given the ability to travel from Paradin to not only the North and South Countries of Nebrodrax but across the Druwoth Sea to the cultures set up there, family lines were able to become much more diverse.

Once ‘The Departure’ happened however and with the uncountable deaths that occurred, those that remained eventually began to interbreed with the other surviving species that made their way to Paradin. With having such greater numbers than any of the other species, it is not difficult to find that most known Viadels come from Daoime families.

Summary:
Spoiler:

Sliabh

Sliabh are very much a hunter/gatherer species. Living originally in the surrounding mountain regions bordering Paradin and Orthan has meant their bodies have grown to survive the harsh surroundings. Though very Daoine in shape, there are many things that set them apart and not just due to their larger sizes.

The first is their stark white hair, which they display in numerous styles whether short or long, but always somehow unique. Sliabh bodies are some of the most naturally tough of any species. Various shades of brown is very common for those of purer families and their notable rock-like growths protrude from the skin as one grows older, becoming even tougher over time. Finally one of the most striking parts of a Sliabh are the glowing veins of what could only be described as glistening ore run down and across the surface of their body.

Sliabh were known to interbreed with the Daoine population long before ‘The Departure’, and as such the Daoine/Sliabh Generations that followed has meant one may be born with only a single aspect of Sliabh Ancestry, whether the pure white hair, tough rocky skin, or gem glistening skin covered veins.

Summary:
Spoiler:

Aigean

Aigeans are, for the most part, a purely aquatic species. Their lower bodies can come in a variety of styles but all resemble fish/eel tails, while their upper body reveals smooth skin with some patches of scales and fins, while their whole bodies can come in a variety of colours and markings. Their face is rather humanoid in shape and can be mistaken for such except for their fang filled mouths, pure black eyes and coral-like protrusions that frame their face. What would be considered hair is a mixture of thin tendrils and seaweed-like lobes of skin which are capable, as is the rest of the body, to reactively change in colour in order to provide camouflage.

Aigeans are capable of traversing land with use of a translucent green stone attached to their chest that would physically alter and repress their form in order to survive out of water. (Tail = Legs, Scales/Fins = Reduced in size and number but still provide protection and ease of swimming, Seaweed/Tendril Hair & Coral Protrusions = Present but vastly diminished, Body Camouflage = Not as detailed but still possible)

This process, though originally used for short amounts of time, is now used so commonly that some Aigean choose to remain in this form and thanks to interbreeding with the Daoine Population has made it so these new generations of Land Aigeans can willingly alter themselves back into this aquatic form for short periods of time.

Summary:
Spoiler:

Folamh

The Folamh Species is much diminished since ‘The Departure’. More than likely to know someone with Folamh ancestry than an actual ‘true’ Folamh, they are quite easy to recognise if not hiding their appearance from the world.

It is their four armed body that marks them as a ‘true’ Folamh, and though they are similar in size to Daoime, their limbs are slightly elongated and as such they can be even taller than most others. Three long clawed digits, two fingers and a thumb, make up each of their hands, while their two-toed feet are planted firmly to the ground and take the brunt of strain alongside their muscled legs.

Their faces are Daoime shaped, though quite plain and smooth, and in fact besides their blank large eyes it is really their display of horns and long strands of feathers/plumage that frames the face that gives any real uniqueness. Though text has mentioned they cover their faces with elaborated headdresses in the past, Folamh nowadays go for more normal attire in order to not draw much attention, though that is still difficult to do especially with their various shades of purple skin.

Descendants of Folamh who may have interbred in the past, though incredibly rarely born with aspects marking them as Folamh, are known to be more likely born a Viadel, with greater affinity towards their particular connection than most. In those cases however, it is also likely for Folamh/Daoime Descendants not to survive a few years after birth, the child in most cases not able to handle this connection from a combination of strain and susceptibility to ‘Tenebris’.

I think I finally came up with what I want to play, though I still need to draw a pic of the design!
I'll edit this as I think of more things to add, but I wanted to at least get the basics set up.

Name/Alias: Torre [pronounced torr-ey] Erling

Age: 28

Appearance: Images: Base / Traveling / Casual
A half-Sliabh woman that takes on much of her full-Sliabh father's appearance. Her mother is Daoine.
She stands at 6'8

Viadel Type: Earth - subset Crystal Manipulation [if that's ok!]

Viadel Stage: 2

Background: Leaving her family home in her early 20s, Torre now travels between Ferux and Musa, providing aid with transporting materials and goods. Her father and mother live in Ferux, working as a smith and jeweler respectively. She discovered her abilities as a Viadel as a child, and explored them on her own in solitude for a time. However, she's tried to keep her identity as a Viadel hidden from others as much as possible, but now the effects are beginning to show through her skin - literally. She frequently covers up and tries not to spend time in one place or around groups of people for too long, as even though Viadel aren't necessarily bad, she doesn't want to deal with people thinking of her as anything else than how she's always been known.
Torre is aloof, but not cold or unkind. She can actually be rather sociable at bars or once-a-year festivals. She's mainly cautious about becoming too reliant or too familiar with people in general, mostly because of her uncertain feelings with her own identity.
Torre does fairly well traversing wilderness and has a knack for survivalism, having studied edible plants and mushrooms in the areas she frequents.

Personal Items: A wire-wrapped crystal necklace from her parents, a combat staff for self defense, as well as a dagger she keeps in her boot. She tends to carry multipurpose tools with her as she frequently travels, and never knows when she may need a small saw, firestarter, and so on.

Extra Info: She enjoys a good meal and can easily be won over with well-cooked food.

Character Themes: Femme Fatale - Coyote Kid / Run Forever - Koethe / Bird Song - Juniper Vale

Uyllious Tales (Sign Up and OOC Thread) Empty Re: Uyllious Tales (Sign Up and OOC Thread)

Thu Jan 09, 2020 12:51 am
Name/Alias: Mikhail Brightbrook

Age: 25

Appearance: Base / Normal
An unassuming sort of Daoine man, though he exudes a peculiar sort of aura that can draw the gaze. His blank eyes seem to reflect constant tiredness. He always looks dirty and a little roughed up.

Viadel Type: Eath/Water - Plant subset

Viadel Stage: 3

Background: Mikhail is a... curious sort of person, for lack of a better description. He wanders around the north/middle of Lucus, usually staying in forests or ruins he might happen across. He has no real destination in mind when he walks, he just "follows the flow". The flow of what? He never really explains. Sometimes he'll end up in one of the major settlements on accident, and proceed to stumble around in a stupor, not quite sure what to do with himself. Some of the locals consider him a "regular" of sorts, and try to help him get around and on his feet before he inevitably wanders out into the wilderness again.
Most people just see him as peculiar or an oddity, but don't really take the time to investigate further than that. Getting too friendly with someone odd can have its own consequences in an uncertain world such as this. People who do spend a little time with him can never seem to figure out what to make of him, either. He's kind, sure. Maybe TOO kind. Very friendly... but sometimes overly familiar. It doesn't help that the only look in his eyes seems to be the same tired, blank gaze, no matter what feeling he's trying to express. Sometimes he seems almost like a child in his demeanor and naivety, yet wise beyond his years at other times. Sometimes both at once.
Mikhail is also, for lack of a better word... unemployed. He never searches for work, but sometimes helps people with odd jobs if he comes across them, and usually with exceptional proficiency. He never asks for payment, but people have taken to giving him little trinkets or food for the assistance. He's also been known to have picked up stringed instruments, pluck the strings experimentally, before playing a full piece despite seeming unfamiliar with the item. How he's managed to survive this long is beyond anyone's knowledge.
Mikhail has spent plenty of time honing his Viadel abilities as he wanders. He doesn't know much about them or where they came from or how they manifested, but he sees them as very helpful tools in his life. Impromptu shelters can easily be made, and he has stitched plants he's grown into satchels and other such items before. Paths are easily built across bodies of water. He can provide food to any herbivorous animals he happens upon. He thinks it's great and has no hesitation ever using his powers. He doesn't quite seem to grasp the risk involved.

Personal Items: The clothes on his back and the shoes on his feet - but those were donated by some kind soul. He's made his own satchel out of plants he's grown, as well as a simple but sturdy water pouch. The only other things he has is a simple walking stick, and a small stringed harp that someone gifted him once [he finds that wild animals seem calmed by the sounds].

Extra Info: He is exclusively vegetarian. He also tends to get caught in a lot of accidental/awkward situations of his own [unaware] making.

Character Themes: Le bal des chats - Cecile Corbel  / Murky - Saint Mesa / In The Woods Somewhere - Hozier

Uyllious Tales (Sign Up and OOC Thread) Empty Re: Uyllious Tales (Sign Up and OOC Thread)

Sun Jan 12, 2020 7:49 pm
Name / Alias: Mol Argha

Age: 48

Viadel Type / Stage: Stage 4 Fire Elementalist

Appearance:

Mol is a True Sliabh who, much to his pride, has a dark skin of an almost reddish brown complexion that is indicative of his bloodline's purity. He is physically formidable even by Sliabh standards: Rising to his full height of 9 feet and 3 inches, he towers over most everyone he meets. The twin massive rock protrusions on his upper back, however, cause him to usually hunch forward when sitting, standing, or walking, so he rarely makes the deliberate effort of trying to intimidate anyone by standing fully upright.

In his older age, Mol's skin has toughened and dried to be rough and callous. He wears his long white hair in a single massive braid that hangs between two large rock ridges on his back, creating almost a line of symmetry dividing the two halves of his back. The rocky protrusions on his body weigh him down and slow his movement, but he benefits from an excellent natural body armor on his arms, legs, torso, and back. These protrusions also cover the otherwise exposed glowing veins on his Sliabh body, which have recently started sprouting mineral deposits along his skin.

Mol ha's taken to custom-making his own clothes (after his wife passed three years ago) because his bulky nature and prominent rock protrusions make him an unusual customer, not that Mol is asking for any particular fashion: he'll wear whatever fits, usually something loose and comfy at the most minimal cost to his wallet.

Even in his prime, Mol was never considered by anyone, himself or his family included, an especially attractive Sliabh. He is stout with a square-ish head and deep-set yellow-gold eyes. His thick laugh-lines age his face further but also show signs of a wilder and more enthusiastic past. These days, smiling has become something he has to concentrate on to make happen, so his expression defaults to a grim apathy that can come across to strangers as a sign of mental ineptness, or possibly brutish meanness (the former far from true, but the latter often the case).

Background:

Mol was the first-born son of a wealthy Sliabh husband and wife who owned a large shipping company in Proch. Born into money within this bustling seaside marketplace environment, Mol was sheltered by his small and tight-knit family. His mother especially sought to minimize his interaction with other children who might try to take advantage of him for money, and he was instilled from a young age with the absolute understanding that people are naturally self-seeking and will, out of base envy or pitiable necessity, try to take what he has for themselves.

With few friends and none he especially trusted enough to be fully transparent with, Mol grew up only able to share his deepest thoughts and emotions with his sister, Kamira. As she was born only two years apart from Mol, the brother and sister were playmates from their earliest years with Mol's slight advantage from more life experience allowing him to mentor his sister right alongside his mother when it came to their studies.

The Argha family wanted their three children (Mol, Kamira, and the second son Orerk) to have ample experience in a wide range of fields before committing them to a rigorous study and mastery of a trade. Mol took to physical, hands-on crafts from a young age, shifting effortlessly between the hardier activities of athletics and manual labor to the fine artistry of the visual arts. Mol, in looking up to his father, sought what seemed like a more lucrative path for a future in business: smithing and working in the forge.

Mol spent his adolescence as an apprentice of local blacksmiths his father had business connections with, and as he spent more time away from the home, he was put more and more frequently in social situations he was unprepared for. Rather than interpret his inability to relate to and communicate with customers and other people in the town as a failing somehow in his parent's education and vision for his life, these experiences fueled Mol's now-instinctive disdain for the stupidity of the commonfolk, especially non-Sliabh and half-blood Sliabh. If he struggled to reach an understanding with customers and even his teachers in the trade, he blamed it on their lack of education and character, and this often resulted in him seeking his father's permission to work under a new master to get away from the "ignorant."

While his ego and temper cultivated some animosity among those he worked for and with, Mol's abilities were superb and, in the vast majority of cases, made up for his perceived flaws in personality. Mol had awakened as a Viadel with Fire Elementalist capabilities, which naturally supported his growth working with metalworking. However, the powers Mol woke to were nothing compared to the rapid growth of his sister Kamira, who around the same time as Mol (thus making her development 2 years earlier in age) became aware of a natural resonance with magma. Their parents took immediate notice of Kamira's abilities and sent her to Blackwell to study under a master Viadel specializing in magma resonance.

This separation left Mol with his younger brother Orerk, a non-Viadel with a rebellious spirit that often drove a wedge between him and the rest of the family. Mol's father was often taking trips to other cities and regions, spending months at sea and abroad, and Mol's mother was as cold and walled-up as Mol was with everyone but Kamira. Mol drove himself inward: He dove directly into this feeling of isolation and loneliness and, rather than fight it, cultivated it. He put everything into his work and grew leaps and bounds within his craft, earning more and more respect even as his temper gained him an altogether different kind of reputation among those he had, in one way or another, burned.

Thus ends the most commonly shared knowledge people have of Mol. He was never an affectionate type, and this aspect of his character, along with his aforementioned disdain for socializing, made it all the more perplexing to those who knew him when he announced his engagement to a non-Viadel Sliabh named Sunine. No one knew her. She came from a family of modest wealth, and as her father was a hunter, it was considered likely that he met her sometime when selling weapons or armor to her father. Sunine was quieter than Mol. While Mol kept to himself, he was also known to use humor and jokes to get through a conversation, such that he was a man of few words but the words he did use were loud and boisterous. Sunine, though, didn't talk to anyone except her family and now Mol.

After a quiet ceremony, Mol and Sunine left Proch when they were in their early twenties and moved to Blackwell, where Mol established connections with the local business elite and rose to the ranks as a respectable crafter of weapons and armor fit for the harsh conditions of travel. Later, he secured ties with the military and began to help equip elite soldiers in Blackwell with necessary gear. He became known by few, and among those who knew him, he was regarded as a curious and ill-tempered but nonetheless essential cog in the machine of Blackwell's warrior and soldier culture.

Three years ago, Sunine passed away. This has become public knowledge to those who know Mol, who since then has managed to become an even more sullen and irritable wretch. Despite his strong reputation for quality work, some of have said that his recent descent into fits of rage could soon cost him everything. Mol has recoiled from the community, entering into social life only when necessary to buy living essentials, which he acquires in bulk and at the lowest prices. The grandour of his upbringing has seemed to fade to a strong desire within him to save up wealth and hoard for the future.

He has mentioned, too inconsistently to warrant real belief, that soon he will only sell weapons to other True Sliabh.

Personal Items: Mol has in his shop at all times a wide variety of weapons and armor, but as he has rarely drifted far from home, he hasn't needed to bring weaponry with him aside from a dagger he keeps sheathed at his side, under his robes. He keeps only a small amount of money on his person at any given time. He sometimes keeps some dried meats in a pouch as a snack. He isn't absent from the home long enough to need much more.

Uyllious Tales (Sign Up and OOC Thread) Empty Re: Uyllious Tales (Sign Up and OOC Thread)

We will see if this is above my ability level. Yall already made me do more creative writing than I have in the last 10ish? years; and was never great at it to being with.  tongue

We will see how this guy plays.

Name/Alias: Kal Varesh
Age: 27
Appearance: ~ 6 ft, green eyed Daoine man, shoulder length brown hair, usually tied back in a loose ponytail. Skin a dark tan from prolonged exposure to the intense sun; with the exception of a multitude of hairline scars on his extremities that refuse to tan
Viadel Type: Corrosion (Water/Earth)
Viadel Stage: 3

Background:

Kal did not grow up in a well-to-do home. With income low, crime was rampant in his ?Feruxian? mining district. His childhood was nothing special from other children; up until an early morning home invasion left his elder brother crippled for life and the majority of his family's meager wealth stolen. Facing eviction, probable death for his crippled brother, and a hard life on the streets for his 15 year old sister, Kal quietly dropped a bag of coinage on the table between his mother and father. Their withheld questions were answered a few days later when the local authorities showed up on their doorstep wanting the 18 year old for murder, with no mention of the money.

The next five years were spent in a mixture of slimy, mold-infested cells. While most occupants succumbed to the squalor within a year, he managed to stay almost perfectly healthy despite showing no affinity toward healing. Always on the lookout for useful criminals to exploit, he eventually drew the curiosity of a few high ranking individuals, and their pocketbooks. The investigating doctors found his blood had a significantly lower Ph than normal and it varied by the hour. Instead of running a fever, the Ph of his blood would plummet upon an immune response; preventing the survival of any foreign biological matter.

Armed with the knowledge he was a Viadel, Kal escaped within the year. With nothing but time on his hands and free training, he quickly discovered how to interact with objects around him. Not long after being moved to a minimal security cell for a life of "ease" for "good behavior," the guards simply found his cell empty; the iron bars on his window apparently weakened due to years of neglect and rust.

Needing to flee the kingdom, he headed to Amnis; the kingdom of new beginnings. He had heard that not many in the remote area cared about the past, as long as you didn't cause trouble and were useful. Plus, as he had suspected, business proved good for some quick cash. He joined a local guild and has been a resident of Lastgarde for the past 4ish years.

Personal Items: Generic bow + Quiver with very poor quality iron arrows, Titanium shortsword (cost him a small fortune), a few poor quality iron daggers. Guild token; a palm-sized medallion with a raven head and his ID number stamped on both sides.

Extra Info: Virtually always wears gloves, except for combat; where the gloves come off.  Wink

Silent and Tank I'm really liking your characters, they should fit perfectly with the world. Welcome! ^-^

Just going to make a little* (*Little at the time of writing this part) post with some extra information on technology for this current stage of Uyllious, and then hopefully I should have the thread and opening post up pretty soon! With four characters so far I think the opening post should make enough sense for, at least majority of them, to start off on the same foot, but of course it will be completely up to you. Anyway, onto the info!

Exotic Minerals

Most of the more natural materials and minerals that make up our own world is to be found within Uyllious itself. From base elements as Hydrogen and Carbon to complex synthetic materials like Steel, the building blocks for growth and experimentation are constantly being prodded and tested within this new age. However some materials and minerals exist on Uyllious that have survived from the 'Age of Plenty', and though lost is the knowledge of their use from that era, it has been an interesting time in rediscovery and reclamation.

Miznonite - Commonly called 'Reaper's/Datio's Tears'
Description: Miznonite is translucent in appearance and most commonly found in two states, Inert & Revitalise. Though difficult to find, Miznonite uncovered through mining reveals a vibrant swirl of purple shades throughout its translucent form. Care must be taken when removing due to its brittle nature, however once removed from a natural vein it quickly becomes Inert and appears no more than a hardened lump of translucent obsidian, becoming quite resilient to any further breakage. Though the exact process used to Revitalise it is not commonly known, many believe it has some Viadel connection. Whether natural to all or to a particular type is not known and so monitored use by ordained administrators from The Givers of Uidvis.

Use: Miznonite has been recognised as a mineral for healing for as long as can be remembered. Though used in the most severe cases of disease, such as the fearful 'Tenebris', Miznonite can be used for even minor issues such as posioning, rapid healing of wounds, and though only in some rare cases, prolong life expectancy.

Dumenic
Description: Dumenic is the name given to a particular material found throughout Uyllious that can mimic some properties of a Viadel's power. In most normal cases, uncovered Dumenic appears as a lump of dark greyish stone similar as it does while Inert. It's Revitalised form however is what makes it unique. As it seems to imprint and conform to a particular element whenever first used, it can be found in a multitude of colours from blazing reds and oranges of fire and heat to calming blues and greens of gentle waves and flowing rivers. After many attempts and refinement over the years it was found that carving of Dumenic into particular shapes for particular uses actually helped focus and intensify the stored element.

Use: Though it can be used in many ways, most of the common people of Paradin are familiar with two uses of Dumenic; Heat and Purify. Carved in the shape of a bristled shell and supplied an initial source of fire this Dumenic would provide a constant outpour of heat for cooking and warmth far longer than the original source would. Filled with holes and shapened to fit at the source of flowing water this style of Dumenic actively filters and purifies it into a drinkable liquid, however these impurities will build up eventually and will need to be removed. It is also known that particular tools, weapons, protective clothing, and now more recently transportation can be made or even augmented with Dumenic, but is quite costly and in most cases specifically tailored for a specific use.
